Petra Collyer DVM PhD CVA VSMT

Dr. Collyer is a German-American veterinarian with extensive experience in companion animal medicine. She attended the Free University of Berlin, Germany, and the University of Glasgow, Scotland, and earned her DVM in 1999 with externships in New Zealand and Scotland. After graduation Dr. Collyer started practicing veterinary medicine in a mixed animal practice in Scotland, and a few years later accepted a position at the University of Berne, Switzerland, to pursue her PhD in equine medicine. After completing her dissertation and working in Alsace, France and Switzerland with large and small animals, Dr. Collyer moved to the US in 2004. Since then, she has been working at an equine referral center, at universities, and at small animal practices in and around Pittsburgh. Dr Collyer acquired Keystone Veterinary Services in January 2023.

Dr. Collyer is continuously pursuing education to expand her toolbox. Dr. Collyer is Fear Free certified, and earned her certification in small animal and equine acupuncture (CVA) and advanced acupuncture through the CHI University in Reddick, FL, a global leader in Traditional Chinese Veterinary Medicine (TCVM). Postgraduate training in integrative palliative care, hospice and end of life care with CHI University further supported Dr. Collyer's passion to care especially for older pets with chronic health problems. Dr. Collyer is certified in small animal and equine veterinary spinal manipulative therapy through the Veterinary Chiropractic Learning Center in Ontario, Canada, which is accredited by the AVCA (American Veterinary Chiropractic Association). Dr. Collyer delivers integrative care and uses a combination of medical approaches to provide the best care, quality of life and happiness for her patients.

Dr. Collyer and her family share their life with Maestro (American Foxhound), Bowie (Paws across Pittsburgh alumna), Friesian Sport Horses and a former race horse on their farm in Shelocta.

Ashleigh Fowkes DVM

Associate Veterinarian

Originally from Apollo, PA, Dr. Fowkes obtained a Bachelor’s Degree in Biology from Indiana University of Pennsylvania. She then went on to pursue her veterinary degree at St. George’s University in Grenada, West Indies in 2020 and completed her clinical year at the Ohio State University. Dr. Fowkes’ professional interests include dermatology, internal medicine, and dentistry. She is also fear-free certified. 

Dr. Fowkes has been in the veterinary field since 2014, starting as a technician prior to going to veterinary school. In veterinary school, she was the President of the Feral Cat Project which helped care for the stray cats on the island of Grenada.  She has wanted to be a veterinarian for as long as she can remember. It has always been her dream to advocate for animals and their wellbeing. Her favorite part of being a veterinarian is to meet all of the different personalities of pets. Even with the most fearful, she enjoys taking her time and making their veterinary experience as fun, positive, and peaceful as possible.

Dr. Fowkes currently resides in Apollo, PA with her 5 cats and chihuahua mix, Douglas. Dr. Fowkes has two paraplegic cats that she cares for, Scooter and Lieutenant Dan. When she is not at work, she enjoys taking Douglas for walks, spending time with friends and family, cooking, traveling, and kayaking.


Jennifer Kleinberger DVM

Associate Veterinarian

Dr. Kleinberger is originally from Maryland but has lived and worked all over the country. She received her Bachelor’s Degree in Animal Science from the University of Massachusetts Amherst and then went on to complete her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine Degree from Mississippi State University in 2016. 

Dr. Kleinberger has always had a special interest in exotic animals and also completed an internship in wildlife rehabilitation medicine at Washington State University. Since graduating from veterinary school Dr. Kleinberger has worked in multiple mixed animal clinics where, in addition to canine/feline medicine, she has gained experience with exotics/wildlife, large animal, and shelter animal medicine. She loves the species diversity of veterinary medicine and is always open to working with different types of animals.

Dr. Kleinberger is currently residing in Pittsburgh, PA and has two “fur children” - a dog named Savannah and a cat named Aveda. In her free time Dr. Kleinberger enjoys kayaking, horseback riding, and being involved with performing arts (she admits to being a musical theater nerd).
