Dental care has become a cornerstone of preventative veterinary care. A COHAT is a full service oral examination under general anesthesia, including full mouth dental radiographs, ultrasonic scaling, polishing, and extractions (only as needed). 

On the day of the dental exam, each patient undergoes:

• physical examination

• preanesthetic complete blood count and blood chemistry unless performed prior to anesthesia

• general anesthesia 

• ultrasonic scaling and prophy paste cleaning treatment 

• probing and assessing pocket depth, gingivitis, tooth integrity

• full mouth dental radiographs, incl. post extraction

• dental sealant and bone grafting if indicated

• referrals to veterinary dentist if indicated
